Wood pellets are small cylindrical pieces made of natural wood waste such as wood chips and sawdust. These raw materials are shredded and compressed under extremely high pressure, using no glues or other additives. Lignin, the woods own natural glue is the only binding agent.
One tonne of wood pellets can replace 400 litres of oil; saving 1072 kg of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere.

UK Sawdust Prices rises by 30% this year, Due to shortage of wood stock 2011.
The UK total wood stock which includes new and recycled wood is 16 Million Tons, with three new Biomass Plants set to come on line by the end of 2011 this will bring the total stock demand rising to a total 50 Million Tonn, a shortfall of 30 Million Tonn.

Biomass briquettes are made from agricultural waste and are a replacement for fossil fuels such as oil or coal, and can be used to heat boilers in manufacturing plants, the home, and also have applications in developing countries. Biomass briquettes are a renewable source of energy and avoid adding fossil carbon to the atmosphere.
Briquettes have a heating value of 4 kW per kg at 80% burn efficiency.
Almost any biomass can be briquetted. Briquetting plants are using the following biomass to make briquettes:
saw dust, bamboo dust, bagasse, cotton stalk, coffee husk, groundnut shell, straw, mustard husk/stalk, pine needles, rice husk, sugar mill waste, jute waste, coir pith
Plus other wastes and residues like castor shell, red gram stalk, tobacco stem, tea waste, sander dust, tree bark, wild grasses and shrubs and sander dust etc. can be also be briquetted individually or in combination WITHOUT USING ANY BINDER.
